Hydrodynamic Investigation on a Land-Fixed OWC Wave Energy Device under Irregular Waves

چکیده

The hydrodynamic response of a land-based oscillating water column (OWC) wave energy converter under various irregular conditions is investigated numerically. Based on the potential flow theory, two-dimensional fully nonlinear numerical flume (NWF) developed to model characteristics using time-domain higher-order boundary element method (HOBEM). inner-domain sources and JONSWAP spectrum used generate incident waves, linear pneumatic determine pressure inside chamber. free surface elevations at chamber centre oscillatory pressures induced by vertical motion are recorded. influence waves OWC device carried out comparison with regular number significant heights peak periods considered. efficiency in observed be lower than that for most frequencies, especially near resonant frequency.
